Pig Genetics & Breeding

The Science of Taste.
The Art of Breeding.

We have spent years sourcing, acclimating and perfecting fine porcine genetics for the West African climate — for unmatched feed-to-meat conversion, robust health and tender texture.

Our Breeds

Different Breeds, Same Quality

We carefully breed different pig varieties, each selected for their unique qualities in meat production, growth rate, and adaptability.

Large White pig

Large White (Yorkshire)

The backbone of modern pig farming.

Hardy, fast-growing and an excellent mother. Sows raise large, even litters, and the breed’s long, lean frame produces pork of outstanding quality.

Best for: Breeding foundations, commercial growing, quality pork
Known for: Large litters, strong maternal instinct, fast growth
Temperament: Calm and easy to manage
Why we keep it — No breed offers a more reliable balance of fertility, growth and meat quality.
Landrace pig

Landrace

The sovereign mother.

Long-bodied sows that farrow easily, milk generously, and wean heavy, thriving litters. The structural length provides extra space for high-value loin cuts — the maternal backbone of our farm.

Best for: Breeding sows and F1 maternal crosses
Known for: Exceptional milk production, docile nature, long lean carcass
Temperament: Gentle and patient
Why we keep it — Our Large White × Landrace cross is the gold standard for commercial sow lines.
Duroc pig

Duroc

The hardy powerhouse.

Highly resilient to the West African climate, with fast growth and exceptional meat marbling — our terminal sire of choice, bred with our white-line sows for robust, fast-growing, stress-resistant offspring.

Best for: Terminal sire, premium pork production
Known for: Fast growth, hardiness, well-marbled flavourful meat
Temperament: Confident but manageable
Why we keep it — Duroc-sired pigs finish faster and eat better — simple as that.
Mantebre signature cross pig

Mantebre Cross — Our Signature Line

Bred here, for here.

Our signature commercial cross combines the fertility of the Large White, the mothering of the Landrace, and the growth and flavour of the Duroc — refined over successive generations on our own farm for local conditions.

Best for: Farmers who want proven, climate-adapted performance
Known for: Vigour, feed efficiency, consistency litter after litter
Why we keep it — It is the sum of everything we have learned. Customers return for this pig season after season.
